and u.s. airways would create the world's largest airline. we'll break down what it means for you, the traveler, trying to book your flights. all ahead unless breaking news changes everything on "studio b." we begin with a a fox urgent setback for thousands of passengers stranded on the broken down crowds cruise ship. the ship is at a standstill because of a broken towline. this after delay after delay, carnival originally said the ship would arrive this afternoon, then they pushed back the estimated ail arrival to tonight, close to midnight. now this. of course you know the 900-foot long vessel has been without power since sunday when a fire in the engine room knocked out most of the electricity. since then it's been, according to passengers, grim onboard. raw sewage reportedly flooding the hallways, no air conditioning. barely any working toilets. we're told passengers had to wait for hours for anything to eat or drink. folks have reportedly had to sleep on the deck. now it's about 43 degrees and very cold. until the recent stop, the tugboats were towing it from the gulf of mexi

.m. out west. i'm miguel marquez. if you're just tuning in, thanks for joining us. these are the top stories we're following in the cnn newsroom. new details about the murders of two military veterans, one a former navy s.e.a.l., chris kyle and his friend chad littlefield were shot and killed in ft. worth texas. the man who pulled the trigger is a veteran who kyle may have been trying to help with ptsd. susan candiotti joins us live with more. what do we know about how this happened? >> well, got some brand new information during the press conference. first of all, we learned about an alleged confession. and police say they think they also have found the murder weapon, when they describe as a semiautomatic handgun that was found at the suspect's house. let's back up a little bit. after the double shooting at that gun lodge, police say the suspected shooter who's 25-year-old eddie ray ralph took off in kyle's pickup truck. then they said that he went to his sister's house and told her and his brother what had happened, and then left that house. that's when the sister called the police

will use super bowl sunday to talk about government regulations when it comes to the issue of steroids or head injuries. the phone lines are open. let's begin with a look at some of the headlines courtesy of the museum. from "the san francisco chronicle" -- from "the baltimore sun" -- let's turn to the politics and policy behind the nfl. this is a story a few days ago from "the washington post." outlining a plan and a letter to the executive director of the players union. they agreed as part of a 2011 collective bargaining agreement that the players should be tested for hgh, but the two sides of that agreed. two seasons have been played without it. last weekend in new orleans, roger goodell was asked a number of questions including one on the issue of head injuries. here is more from last week.
